Do I have to know the experiment he did to produce an electric current using a magnet

That is the experiment:

- Iron ring experiment
- Block of wood with 2 different wires

This is first dot point of 2.

Outline Michael Faraday's discovery of the generation of an electric current by a moving magnet

IMO its best to know 5 experiments which he did
- Wood Block
- Glass Tube with Iron Nail
- Iron Ring
- Moving Magnet
- Copper Disc

I have seen questions asked in trial examinations requiring you to outline Faradays discovery, referring to relevant experiments (worth 5 marks), needing you to refer to more than just the moving magnet experiment.

Having said this, I would highly doubt you would be required to know anything bar the moving magnet expt for the HSC examination, as the syllabus does say 'generation of electric current by a moving magnet', in the other 4 experiments the magnet itself was either stationary, or there was no magnet :)

Edit:

So basically I don't NEED to memorise the experiments. Just then moving magnet would be fine...

It's sufficient to answer a 5 marker question
