Hey,

Just a quick question: with questions such as "Analyse TWO language techniques used to establish the persona's feelings of not belonging. Provide specific examples from the extract to support your answer." (4 marks) where it says specifically 'two language techniques' if I use more than that, can I be penalised? I know in science and social science if you get a question that says "Identify two whatever" and you put down three answers, the markers get sceptical because they think you're trying to guess the answer, and I ~think~ you can lose marks (not 100% sure). Does this hold true in English paper one? It just seems weird because it limits the length of the response and I don't end up writing enough (in my opinion).

TLDR; Can I use more than two language techniques if it specifically asks for two or three etc. without being penalised or arousing scepticism?

If it says TWO it means just two..

If it says at least TWO then you can use more...

Don't risk it, this is the HSC after all

I think all you risk in writing more than the required is time

During the reading time consider (in this case) which two you would be able to write the most on

That's how I see it, then again I haven't even done the HSC :D
