addictions aren't just chemical; unless you work out WHY it is that you smoke and began to in the first place, you either WILL relapse, or you will replace it with another addiction.

it sounds stupid for something like smoking, which is seen as a minor and socially acceptable addiction, but i'd recommend at least a bit of therapy.

My friend said he'd quit.

No patches nothing.

Just stopped then and there.
same with my mates parents, i just depends on how much you want to quit

the easier thing is not to take up smoking

when people say they dont smoke, they only do when they drink, do you guys find that a bit hypocritical, i mean yer you might say the last part is fair enough but they are still smokers, some of the people i know who have said that have become full time smokers

but im a pretty proud gf if i may say so.

and i think posting here would be making riet push himself to quit?

also think sarah is amazing for trying to quit.
im gobsmacked that she can be more amazing than she already is/

I guarantee plenty of people who say that do become smokers, but if they genuinely only have one or two when drinking then that's fine IMO.

Ima kind of curious, I've never had a cigarette. What am I missing out on exactly?
Why do people like to smoke, apart from the addiction?
I mean, with weed at least you get high. But what do cigarettes do?
p.s. sorry to invade thread

Relaxation, stress relief, taste.
... I'm guessing.

So yeah, didnt really want to smoke this weekend. Went to argyle, was all sweet until we went out to the beer garden for a bit, had like 12 durries weeee.
In conclusion: Avoid places inhabited by heaps of smokers

Been four days without a cigarette and I've only had two since last Thursday.

I'm coughing up all kinds of crap but otherwise I'm actually feeling better. Spent hours at unibar yesterday with friends and a number of them smoke but while I had some cravings, it wasn't too hard.

How're you doing Riet?

Exactly this. No one has offered me any yet, and so by just not having any it's easy enough to avoid smoking.
