for those of u who did the raci test
what was the answer for question 3?
iit wsa the one where u had to write the formula thingo for the carbon and hydrogen hexagon whatever question
was it C17H22 or was it C17H28?

the diagram was two connected hexagons and the corners were suppose to be carbons, so work it out from there

i did this. our teacher said we could go as soon as we were finished, i quickly deduced the test meant nothing answered 'a,b,c,d' and hightailed it out of there ten minutes into the period.
perfect.

but it if it were C17H28 wouldnt the carbon which forms the corner of the hexagon be connected to 3 carbons and a hydrogen which would be really wierd?
however if it was C17H22, there would be a double bond between the hexagons making the arrangement seem less weird...
most ppl i know are saying that it was C17H28:spzz:

It was 3hexagons + 1 pentagon connected to each other, hence 17 carbons.
The first diagram showed a hexagon/pentagon dont remember with each carbon having 2 hydrogen bonds.
Hence you just types 17 by 2= 34, then minus the carbons which are used to connect the hexagons/pentagon , being 6 of them, hence they only have 1 carbon bond, hence its 34-6=28.
C17h28.
Thats what i got.
