I can't find any information for this dot point:

Process information from secondary sources to outline the range of frequencies detected by humans as sound and compare this range with two other mammals, discussing possible reasons for the differences identified

Any help will be apprectiate! :p

Just some brief notes. You may wish to do some research to be able to expand on it.

You can consider dogs and bats as the 'two other mammals':
- Most nocturnal bats emit high frequency sound waves and use the echo to gain information about its surroundings (a process called echolocation). Hence, bats generally have a much higher sound frequency detection range (most of which in the ultrasonic range probably) compared to humans to accomodate this process (which is pretty much essential in nocturnal activities where visual processes are not as useful).
- Dogs prior to domestication relied on hearing for survival. A greater range of detection (in both intrasonic and ultrasonic range probably) compared to humans allows increased awareness of prey, predators or communication with companions etc.

humans detect 20-20,000Hz

bats: 100-120,000Hz ---> high frequencies for precise echolocation

porpoise: 75-150,000Hz --->marine animals need to communicate over large distances. Very low sounds travel a long way under water and very high frequencies allow for precise echolocation
