Hi guys,

I hope everyone is going well with their studies so far.

I was just wondering if ranking first integrally gives you a huge advantage?

By ranking first, aren't all your assessment marks taken? I mean, say my assessment marks are 90/100 and in my exam I get 75/100, doesn't that mean my assessment mark will become 75 too? (assuming I am first in the exam of course).

What do you think?

Cheers Sam.

If your assessment mark is 90 and your exam mark is 75 then your HSC mark for that subject will be 83 which is a band 5

Ranking first gives you the best advantage out of everyone else in your year

Your school assessment marks become meaningless when you're first.
Your final assessment mark (internal mark) will end up being the highest exam mark from your cohort.

Yes that's right. The highest exam mark will be your assessment mark, regardless of your internal raw mark.

Thanks guys.

So I pretty much just have to make sure that I ace my exams?

My cohort is just a little week. So I guess it's really important that I don't ruin any exams then.

It just seems stupid to me. It feels as though all the hard work I've done this year was essentially for nothing.

No it wasn't, all your hard work will help you in the final exam

If it wasn't for this system students would be slacking off and cramming in the last few months rather than studying consistently

And yeah, you have to ace your externals
