Dont know if this has been asked before but...

If i get say 70's across the board and rank no.1 in all the classes compared to 70's across the board and bottom of the classes, will this affect my UAI assuming my state rank remains the same?

I'm making the following assumptions:

Your marks of 70 are your school assessment marks.

By 'state rank' you are referring to your state rank in each HSC exam.

Yes - there is unlikely to be any relationship between the UAIs from each scenario.

well 70's arent my actual mark, just hypothetical marks, so u mean that my ranking in class, despite my marks, will affect my UAI. Ok, heres another question, will i get scaled up for coming first?

thanks

Yes you will get scaled up, rankings are what matter remember, so coming first with 6% is the equivalent of coming first with 100%. This happens all the time in my school, we are famous for brutal exams and oftentimes the highest marks for a subject like extension maths is around 70. It does get scaled above 90 in the end.

Don't confuse scaling with moderating.

If you're interested in how your ranking can affect your moderated assessment marks (and hence your UAI), read this thread.
