Hey,

Well i did pretty good in some however I did not study much, and maths well I am not keeping and i did pretty bad in that, and society i made a mistake in which i didn't choose a different topic for the next question, english was really good, religion was really good, legal was strange as i did better in the harder sections rather than multiple choice in which i lost many marks...

And so I just did a "fake" atar mark and put in my marks in the atar calculator and then i was really dissapointed. I know my flaws and i know what i need to work on but i still feel I may not get the best marks? How can i cope? I am nervous for yr 12.

a guy in my chem class went from 12/18 in prelims to 4/18 in hsc. (ranks)
and remember, your marks mean nothing, its all about ranks, as long as you went well in those. And if you didnt... you are starting with a clean slate now. No marks are next to your name. If you really are worried, buy some text books or ask your teachers for copies and start reading ahead in the holidays. I did the the first topic for bio in the holidays between 11 and 12, and came 1st in the first assessment, (coming from about 5th in the prelims). If you put in the time, your marks will improve and so will your confidence.

The HSC is like an angel from heaven. It is going to give you, me and the state a second chance. Your willingness to take that will determine the ATAR and scores you deserve. I can assure you, I am more nervous than you are. But we need to settle these nerves and move forwards. We still have a brilliant journey ahead of us and as for the fairytale ending to complete K-12, that's for you to decide.

Do not worry. I have a feeling you did exceptionally well.
No way.
I reckon I did okay-good in maths, maths ext, biology, food tech and realllyyyyy bad in chemistry and sorta okay in economics.

Do you think its fair for the chemistry paper to consist of mostly the same thing? (calculations)

Thankyou all so much.

However say one is ranked 5th and their mark is 90 and the 4th is 91 and the 3rd is 92, etc, then the 5th mark is only really 1 mark apart to the 4th ranked, so in which case, does it matter as much?

And yes i am doing holiday reading and really preparing myself for next term, however i hope to not over do anything, i do not want to burn out.

i think the marks get averaged so if you're rank 4 and get 91 and someone ranked 5 gets 92 then its 91+92/2? so no it won't matter

Hmmm I see...

I still worry a lot though, I mean I really want to go to university and want to achieve an atar of atleast 90 and over.

How should one work in year 12? Should assignments been done as soon as you get them? Homework always done? Etc?

Spread your assignments out and avoid doing it last minute. Use the first day or two as research and then break it into parts and assign a certain part to a certain day or time of day.

Definitely get your homework done before it's due as you don't want a stack of work to catch up on.
