For reflux does it include the heating mantle e.g would we say that a benefit of reflux is that heat can be used to increase rate of reaction for esterification or is reflux just good for yield and safety?
yeah but its all part of the fischer esterification process, so the reflux setup itself condenses vapours and spitting that is otherwise harmful, its done for preventing mass loss and safety risks (like u said)
