Hey everyone,

For my AOS topic I am doing 'The Human Condition'. I'm already using Lost In Yonkers, a play by Neil Simon. I was wondering if you could help me out here, with preferably a film or short story. Btw I was wondering whether 'Where The Wild Things Are' would be good? Thanks in advance =]

Apparently "Alice in Wonderland" (the 2010 film) is something about the human condition. I personally haven't watched it yet and is apparently a disappointment. I'm doing a novel and a play.

Ideas (just off the top of my head):

Running with Scissors- Augusten Burroughs (also the movie)
Matilda- Roald Dahl (also the movie)
Othello or Macbeth (lol)

Zoo Story - Edward Albee (It's really really good) [play / dramatic dialougue]
Love-song of J. Alfred Prufrock - T.S. Eliot [again, great poem]

We're using them for our AOS of the Human condition at our school right now.

Almost any text can be related back to the human condition in some way, since almost all of them deal with human experiences and perspectives in some way. One short story I find is quite good is The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry. If you're thinking about poems, have a look at some by Judith Wright (that's what we studied for HC). Not too sure about films, but once again, just about any can be related to the HC.
