What were some related texts you have used for your Prelim or HSC course throughout the year? Post them in this thread so as to provide a resource for future dude's and dudette's taking on the Advanced course.

Here's mine:

- 'Woman Hollering Creek' - Sandra Cisneros *Novel*
The change in the main character from accepting the limits she feels as part of a patriarchal society, to rebelling against this and then becoming her own woman.
(Elaine Showalter's Feminist theory)

- 'Labyrinth' by The Cure *Song* (Related to Woman Hollering Creek)
Song's lyrics based on Woman Hollering Creek...useful to quote from. Shows awareness of pop-culture.

- 'OK Computer' - Radiohead *Album*
Deals with society's grasp of technology, consumerism and the media. Particularly useful songs to quote from: Lucky, Fitter Happier, Airbag, Climbing Up The Walls.

---------------

Analysing OK Computer was awesome stuff. It was supposed to be a small class task, but I turned it into a full-blown 5 page essay which my teacher never read because she hates Radiohead. She shall die tomorrow.

Anyway, throw em all in.

"Moral Outrage Clouds the Question that Teamwork must Tackle" Catherine Lumby - (Sydney Morning Herald) - Article about gang rape and group sex

Shows a change in attitudes and perspectives through reflecting on the past and contemplating what change needs to occur. She is asking society to change perspectives and expecially for men to change their perspectives on women.

-The French Lieutenants Woman: sorry, cannot for life of me remember author...but not hard to find (novel, femme fatale, woman decides that only way she has of advancing herself is to make everyone thinks she's a scarlet woman.)
-La Belle Dame Sans Merci: Keats (poem, femme fatale)
-The Beguiling of Merlin: Edward Burne-Jones (painting, femme fatale, shows Morgan le Fay ensnaring Merlin in a Hawthorn tree, very easy technique analysis)
