i was just doing an extension essay but i thought the question i had related to this as well so here goes:

when your writing about prescribed and related texts how much retelling should you do? now i know that the examiners have read your prescribed texts so you dont have to re-tell the story that much but they cant have possibly have read all the related texts in the state so how much retelling do i have to do?

so much as long as it relates to what you are trying to say. For example, you discuss theme, then for this you must retell how throughout your text your text this theme was shown.

I don't know if that helps...

i think you assume that the marker has a wide knowledge and you give info so they could find it if they needed to. If you really wanted to you could make up a text but it would probably be asy to pick.

you really should have 1 sentence that sums up the text and then you should just point out the important bits that relate to your points
