I need some help in calculating the relativistic energy and then the relativistic KE of the electron, where the mass of electron is 9.1 x 10^-31 Kg. Helps guys?

Realtivistic kinetic energy, as seen by a reference frame in relative motion: KE=0.5(m_v)v^2

relativistic energy = mc^2/sqrt[1 - (v/c)^2] (energy of electron moving at speed v)

relativistic KE of electron = mc^2/sqrt[1 - (v/c)^2] - mc^2 (kinetic energy of electron moving at speed v)

to calculate a value you need the velocity of the electron
Are you sure this is a formula that could used?
As far as i know to calculate the energy of any object in motion would be to use
E = mc^2 + (1/2)mv^2
OR
using the mass dilation formula and then using E = mc^2 where m is the dilated mass.

buuut if that formula works than can you explain it to me? thanks :rolleyes:
