Hey, i'm in the process of doing my summary notes for the half yearly exams comming up in a couple of weeks.
But i am having difficulty with the religion and the media dot points.

i can do the non-religious views one pretty easily because i have alot of information but i am not so sure about the first 4 dots points i believe - i'm trying to download the syllubus now to post them here...
k these are the ones i'm not sure of;

religion and its use of print and electronic media to propagate a point of view:
how religious views are/can be communicated, eg documentary; talkback;
dedicated newspapers, brochures and journals; regular column; editorial
how religious media are used as vehicles for/of religious conversion
the print and electronic media treatment of religious traditions, issues and
personalities
the concepts of neutrality, bias and objectivity/subjectivity
dimensions of traditions/issues/personalities which make these worthy of
media interest, for example:
- extraordinariness
- controversy
- counter to prevailing broader culture
media presentation of religious personalities, traditions and issues and
whether such coverage is accurate and representative, for example:
- treatment of religious personalities, with reference to the ratio of
male/female coverage
- treatment of religious traditions, with reference to the coverage of
traditions other than Christianity
Studies of Religion Stage 6 Syllabus
- treatment of religious issues, with reference to the ratio of explicitly
ethical as opposed to non-ethical issues
the media as a vehicle for promoting religious understanding and
tolerance, eg coverage of national/international religious festivals, feasts
and events.
Students learn to:
recognise the media as an important vehicle in the promotion of religion in
Australia.
Students learn about:

all we have done for religion and the media is collect articles and haven't wrote much. I have the religoin text book but an unsure abotu what to summariese etc.

any help woudl be very appreciated
Thanks

IMO- the best way to prep for the media question in 2 unit FOR THE HSC is to look at past papers as there really isnt a content base to the topic ie they cant ask a specific media question as the syllabus doesnt mandate certain eg's. I believe its very similar to yr 11 Englishmedia studies(?) (I dont teach English so Im willing to stand corrected here) as in you are given a source and you can analyse it in the context of the question, medium, msg, layout etc
That said, for your half yearlies where things may be a little different as teacher are setting the question so honestly, your text is the best place to start (if it is Living Religion by Peter Mudge et al- Exploring Religion is crap for this topic and Macquarie doesnt jump out at me as I havent looked at the Media chapter in it yet)
LR gives some really good examples of the Australian context (which you can supplement with your other articles-why do teachers still make students collect these for this topic?)
If you look at the syllabus stuff above, its really about:
1. how religion uses the media or
2. how the media uses religion
quick summary I know but because of the lack of detail/example in the syllabus (unlike other units), it has to be broad (which is good for you!!)
Also, its only a 5 mark question if your school follows the formula (ie its a split question out of 10) so again, is it worth "stressing" about in the context of the exam? (bad word I know but......)
Stick with the text is my suggestion and summarise it under the text headings then slot them into the syllabus headings as an exercise in lateral thinking (or get the Macq. guide as it uses the syllabus headings.....)
hope this helps
