I see!!!
Do the "reppers" reputation points given to you depend on their status??
I remember having like a 2 point rep from someone, then "Fry" repped me in a thread i created and i got like 6!!
Yeah, a few factors contribute to how many reputation points the person gives you. One is post count (supposed one more reputation point weighting for every 1000 posts) and another is their reputation level. Again, I am not sure about whether the length of time the user has been registered for affects their weighting:).

It is usually right at the bottom, but because no one has given you reputation yet (you start off with ten points) you won't see it:).

shameless behaviour in the past
unknown quantity
off the scale -10pts
distinguished road-11pts
will become famous soon enough -50pts
has a spectacular aura about - 150pts
jewel in the rough 250pts

and the rest I dunno.
before i was on 10 rep points and i was 'on a distinguished road.' i guess that contradicts part of your rep system.

yes i know. i started on 10 pts; i know that.

however, when i was on ten rep pts, i was 'on distinguished road'

i only joined last month and i was on 10 pts until very recently. and at the time, before i was repped, i was 'on distinguished road.'

is there a correlation between post count and rep?
With the amount of rep abuse going on - highly unlikely.

Really? Every post that I have read abut the system seems to say that you get more reputation weighting the more posts you have:confused:?

Under what cirumstances do you rep others? Just curious.
Repping is used for noting a user's contribution to the forum. A user with high reputation should have:

* contributed to the subject forums with useful information or constructive posts on topic
* displayed a good attitude towards the wellbeing of the forum and forum users

(wow I sound like a syllabus hahahahah)
in other words you rep someone when you read a post that makes you go 'wow, that person is an UPSTANDING CITIZEN OF BORED OF STUDIES'.

we're working on improving the rep system in the near future.

the people with lots of rep seem to be those people who hang around in non-school, spend lots of time on BOS posting in random threads and when they say something stupid- they get repped by others....

I spam sometimes and don't get repped down
I post useful things in bio/physics don't get repped up

haha.

As I said, we're looking into how the system works :D

You can't be negative repped.

Its because:

a) you don't hang around non-school flirting all day
b) A fair few questions asked are by newbs who can't rep
c) Barely anyone reps in subject forums :p

Anti you got lots of rep suddenly, get promoted? or did you just satisfy a) for a few days straight?
