was rated 4th best in the world
Yeah, Rockpool was also up there... 13th, 30th? I forget.

I have been to est. which was simply out of this world... if Rockpool and Tetsuyas rate higher than est., I can only begin to imagine what they're like...

Aria is pretty good, $60 flat rate lunches. Excellent value for what it is.

What's your budget?

If it's the same as mine, go to anything at the overseas terminal, Woolloomooloo, rocks, etc.

If you want me to be more specific, here are some I eat out:

* Cruise resturant
* harbourkitchen&bar
* Kable's
*Ocean Room
* Wildfire Restaurant

etc.

newtown doy tao = best cheap thai place ever
i was about to mention that!! i've been searching for a new thai place to take the place of my local in my heart since it got bought out and became shitty... and i've def found it

grace for japanese i really like this place called japanese restaurant on parramatta rd near annandale/stanmore. i'm sure it's got a proper name but the sign on the front just says japanese restaurant. not THE cheapest you'll get but pretty cheap and there's heaps of variety and stuff - i like the teriyaki squid

erin are you talking about that place with two rooms? (hard to explain) i loved that place, haven't been there since year 7 but it's got a lot of meaning for me... i went there for my birthday in yr6 and 7, and the people were so nice, they took photos with their polaroid and let us keep them :p i really should go again sometime.

anyway, places i love:

chan paradise chinese restaurant, five dock! :D lol nah my uncle sold it so i don't work there anymore, but the food is so yum. i miss it. i hope the new owners keep the chefs coz they're the best.

gspot cafe, next to toni&guy on pitt st, diagonal from myer
senario cafe, opposite KFC george st
cube, opp town hall near woollies metro
twelve cafe, if i remember correctly, 555 king st newtown
torinos pizza, enmore, near enmore theatre
this woodfired pizza place, opposite manly wharf, the pizzas are HUGE
that japanese place that you have to get a lift up to, opposite entertainment centre
ichiban boshi (kinokuniya, the strand) great food, service sucks
bello, entrance of burwood westfield, burwood road
sidney's cafe, opposite george's cafe near westfield, burwood road
pancakes on the rocks
yama cafe, QVB level 2 or 3 (both western & japanese food)
amber lounge, next to burwood westfield
bar 333, near martin place
hunter bar, hunter st wynyard

i was going to go to doytao last night but ended up at another thai place, near enmore theatre... that was pretty nice

Tetsuyas starts at $175 for the food... doesn't include wine matched to your 7 course meal :p
I've heard that there's a 4 week wait after you've booked a table, with the deugstation coming in at $185

Blackbird Cafe at Cockle Bay was pretty nice when I went there, and reasonably priced for a restaurant style meal.

$5 meals at the Lansdowne (opp Usyd/Victoria Park/Broadway S.C.) is tops.

I haven't really been to many restaurants in Sydney because of my tight budget.... it doesn't really allow for fine dining usually.

There's a teppanyaki restaurant i went to a long time ago.

It's somewhere in the CBD, and it has a waterfall in it... SO COOL!! Does anyone know where it is or what it's called..?
