Hi
I originally completed the HSC in 2003 and at the time I was had motivation problems and didn't really care how I did at all. As a result I was rewarded with an abysmal UAI, 40. something from memory.

I'm considering retaking the HSC by distance education through OTEN. Does anyone have any advice or sugesstions on whether this is a good idea or not?

Thanks for your time

It seems ok, but you're currently like 6 years older - 24~.
Are you sure that repeating the HSC would be good for you?
Perhaps just going to TAFE or similar would save you a lot of time and effort.

I've looked into TAFE and the only course that really interests me is a Cert IV Information Technology, which I might have time to do as well as.

My main motives for doing the HSC again are that my girlfriend got screwed out of hers at her school so we could retake it at the same time and there are a number of HSC subjects that would interest me a lot.

if its what u want, thats fine, just make sure u dont end up regretting taking it again,

its gonna take one year, which can be used for other forms of study/work
just look at the pros and cons and see what comes out on top

Why would you be doing it - what are your plans post HSC?

Further study at university? Straight into the workforce? Other?

University. Something with Psychiatry or Medicine, from what I've seen Unis dont let mature aged entrants in, probably cos I'd be ready to reture by the time I finished med school :p.

med is very hard to get into, if you got 40 the first time and got into med the second time, they might make your story into a movie :)

no but seriously, if you really want med badly enough, you'll muster the work ethic and skill to get in. Especially with the extra maturity you gain from 6 years of age, it should be doable (provided you want it badly enough)
