Review vs Essay? (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I have been looking at some notes from an English text book and can't understand the difference between a review of an essay? it says a review gives a recommendation, although at the end of an essay you are in a way giving a bias opinion/review etc???

review you have it in first person, "i reccomend", or "my opinion is.." in an essay , unless they ask for it, it is definatly a no-no. there are other minor differences but yes, you are right they are very similar

also review you can give both sides of the argument ehilst in an esay youy are trying to prove/disprove something so obvioudly will not argue the other side. also for review you don't have to have a conclusive ending.

i supppose for an essay you don't have to either but it is better if you do
