hmmm, May is not exactly the winner. She just disguised her knowledge that that her husband loved another woman. Ellen said goodbye because May told her that she was pregnant BEFORE she was sure that she was pregnant. So may is a clever one, but she had to live all those years knowing that her husband truly did not love her back, so its not a bed of roses for her either.

I really dislike that carriage scene, it was very drawn out and didnt carry meaning across as well as the moment should have.

My favourite is the very end. When Newland's son tells him that his mother was right in that the kids were safe with him because "a long time ago, she asked you to give up the thing you wanted most". I love it when the voice over says "all along...someone knew...and pitied" ohhh that was sad. Also, the scenes flashing before him as he remembers Ellen at the pier years ago....:(

I loved Bridget Jones' Diary and Pretty Woman..I know that Moulin Rogue and Chicago are musicals....but if they can be called romantic then they were also great..
I have never understood the fascination everyone had with Titanic though......I hated it

Ok if we're talking erotic... see a film called "In The Realm Of The Senses" I think it's in Japanese... It's based on a true story from 1930's (in Japan...) So much sex... so much screwedupness.. (if that's a word)

Jan Dara is also a good one, it's set in Thailand. Sort of screwed up but there are some pretty moments... too much incest for me, but whatever.
