For current people living out of home, or planning to move out

What is the predicted budget you spend every week? Either living on campus/out of campus (please list and state reasons why you think this is better)

Also please list any financing options available for students to help students budget themself to live out of home for Schooling purposes, thanks i plan to live out of Sydney interstate at Brisbane, and need to find many available options and suggestions as possible

I live with my fiance and flatmate, so our situation is a little different to yours, but i lived by myself basically since i was 14 and i always found it hard to stick to a budget!

I just want to suggest a really fantastic book to you that should help you HEAPS, it's called 'Leaving Home: The Ultimate Guide' by Samantha Koch/David Koch, and it covers everything you would need to know, including living off campus or on campus, and it features lots of info on budgets etc as well. Another question

What do people mean by "share accommodation" when they advertise this on newspapers? i've checked through realestate.com.au and they have accommodations percectly suited priced at $120/week, does this also cover food? or just the electricity, water, gas?

My budget's really tight and currently stand at $220/week, i don't know if this enough, i've calculated all my expenses and it came out to be $260/week, does it really cost this much? or am i over predicting? (this includes 10hr job)

Share accomodation, where you're sharing with other people and spliting expenses, would be a good option for you But advertisements tend to wildly vary-some figures quoted only cover rent, and rarely do they cover food.
A lot of the time, people will state exactly figure will cover, eg rent only. Often ads will state the weekly rent and then say 'plus expenses', meaning things like electricity, phone bills, water etc. You really have to check with the individuals involved whether expenses have been included in the quoted rental figure.

Living out of home can cost an awful lot, and some will say that it is possible to live out of home on $220. It really depends on you personally, because you may find that you will have to sacrifice certain luxuries just so you can cover your essential costs such as rent and food. It can be done, it is just up to you to decide very carefully what you are spending your money on.

thanks very much, i do plan to live out of Sydney for a long time eg. 10 years, but i have no idea how the job market is in Brisbane, reason why i prefer Brisbane is its climate and is more suited for me
