Just got an email saying I made the Engineering Dean's list, which is interesting because my myUNSW wam is less than 80...
Just wondering if commerce dean's list is out and also whether you can get dean's list if you only did 3 subjects?

The deans list is for performance over a year. Not a semester.

Wait, so say you do 5 commerce courses over a year due to your dual degree, can you still make Dean's List?

From their website
The Award is only available to students who have successfully completed a minimum of 24 units of credit (UOC) of Business School courses in the previous calendar year (industrial training/experience and exchange courses are not counted as completed units of credit).
So 4 or more business subjects should be fine im guessing

Why not?

Reasons as aoc said. It's all available on the business school website.

Engineering Dean's List requires 75+ WAM

There's also the Engineering Honour's List (I think it's called) which is different.

A myUNSW WAM average as follows is required to be eligible:

For programs started before 2015, ≥75%
For programs started from 2015 or later, ≥80% (to align with new First Class Honours cut-offs).

That's fucked i'm never gonna be able to reach an 80 average

sup guys, yesterday my wam ended with a .455 and I think 3 subjects this sem were entered. now it's ending with .917, does this mean all 4 subjects have been entered or was one of the 3 subjects adjusted? is it even possible to end with those numbers

Well it depends on how many courses you've already done prior to 2017 s1.

Think you should be right, assuming 0.455 was 0.45454545, which times 11 gives 4.99995. and assuming 0.917 was rounded up from at least 0.9165, and times 12 = 10.998

Wait I'm confused, what did you do here exactly and what does it show?
The WAM that you had earlier involved 9 courses. Referring to a post InteGrand made earlier, a .45454545 decimal place is only possible when 11 courses have been submitted in.

This is because if you multiply .45454545 by 11, you get a number that's approximately equal to an integer. Which makes sense, because we rounded. If we didn't round, and left it as .4545454544545454545454545... then we'd get an integer.

In a similar way, the other value when multiplied by 12 also gives you an integer.

(It may help to think about the smaller numbers. An average of 2 courses has a decimal point of .5 or .0, an average of 3 has .333, .667, .0
An average of 4 has .25, .5, .75, .0 as a decimal place
5 - .2, .4, .6, .8, .0
6 - .167, .333, etc.)
