Subject Selection Help =]

sooo its nearly time for me to submit my subject selection form for yr 11 the preliminaries.

I was just wonder about the so called "capped" subjects.

How will they affect some one's uai and also which subjects are capped?

Can you still get a high uai (95+) with a few capped subjects?

Thanks

Yes you can. "Capped subjects" are the subjects where the top scaled mark is not 50/50. Classic example of this is English (Standard) or Senior Science. BUT this does not necessarily mean that you will get crap mark. As long as you achieve high marks in those subjects, you are less likely to be scaled down.

I personally know few people at my school who did capped subjects but they still managed 99.5+ UAI, awesome isn't it?

oh dayum.

So basically, you cant get scaled to 50/50 but you can get scaled close right?

Are IPT, software design&development, business studies or Information technology (VET) capped?

I think VET IT might be capped.

mmmm I check the scaling report of 2006 just then and the max scaled mark was 42.6

Isn't that really shit?
yes, but remember to compare it to everything else. because remember the UAI is a RANK, so if everything scales down lots, then everyone is in the same boat, and the UAI rank is unaffected.

So you should compare this to other subjects like Mathematics, or Standard English, or to any other subject. Also even though the max scaled mark is 42.6, if you can get 100 and get that scaled mark, its still better than if you get 84 in a subject that has no scaling.

But yes, that is probably one of the poorer scaling subjects.
