Scales on the Axes (1 Viewer)

Hey just wondering, does it matter if our axes aren't exactly to scale in conics and curve sketching, and alos complex numbers? I was plannning to use the lines on the page as each unit for y and 1cm for each x unit, however i think the lines are further apart by a little bit on the page lines. Im perhaps being a little pedantic.

lol, you can draw it 10 by 9 and on the corner of page, write zoom ' x100'

it dosnt matter if the x and y axis are different scales, but you just have to make sure that all increments on the x are exual and the increments are equal.

oh and you have to get the graph right aswell... that always helps

i don't even use scales, i just draw it and label the important points. as long as your graph doesn't look ridiculus it shouldn't matter. why waste time labelling the non important features? it's not like i'm going to get my exam back and be framing it on the wall or anything.

as long as the x scale is aproximalty linear
and the y scale is aproximatly linear

every thing is cool

infact it is ok to lable what is usallly your x-axis your y axis and vica-vera
it makes sketching inverse funtions eaiser

hay, im not 1 for detail, i got 10 marks deducted it the trials for stupid mistaked, such as 4*6=10

I don't mean to use a scale as in 10=1cm or woteva, I mean should my 1cm increment on the x-axis correspond to the same 1cm increment on the y axis. As in, on the x could i go 1, 2, 3, 4..... and on the y go 2, 4, 6, 8... with each number representing another cm.

well thats not too bad, if you rotate x by pi/4 you get +, which 4+6 happens to be 10.

bah, too much rectangular hyperbolas for me
