Nah, its pretty good.

Our teacher was the head marker for one of the sections of the exam and he said that if you get 80% raw, that you are looking at a band 6.

Sorry to burst your bubble Adam, but the scaling is not very good. It normally hovers at just above average, ie: it scales just a little over your actual raw mark. As to why this happens, I don't really know ...

Engineering scales &*@!house it would of cost me about 10 points in my UAI... But the upside was that i know everything that i'm doing in my course at Uni so you gotta take the good with the bad

hmm
if youget prettygood marks like 80 -> it would do more within the scaling then if u were an average student (average would be around 60 - 80 ~ maybe... i'mpushing numbers
i think scaling for engineering should change...

Um, newsflash. Head marker!

Well I don't think I got anywhere over 80 raw, and a 91 HSC mark came out of it.

Subject scaling is entirely different to exam scaling.

And 'exam scaling' (usually referred to as 'aligning') has no effect on UAIs.

The original poster was obviously asking about 'subject scaling'.
