i'm hoping to do either b arts and sciences or b liberal studies next year, and i was wondering what the best science major would be to do. i don't have a huge interest in any particular science area (but i don't just want to do an arts degree), so what's the best science major to do when i don't have any career path in mind at the moment ? thanks..........

That would be something that you would have to decide for yourself after seeing what is available (at USyd, I assume).

*stongly biased chant* go bio, go bio!!

*unbiased advice* as the others have said, you really can't decide til you get to uni and check out a few of the units. For me, I planned to major in psych, and now I'm actually doing science, I've fallen in love with bio and plan to major in it (if I don't get my transfer). The units available also strongly depend on the uni, so try and check out a few of the different uni's BSc programs (Newcastle's is available here (Callaghan) and here (Ourimbah))

Descartes was a Mathematician and a Philosopher.

Escher was a Mathematician and an Artist.

I'd pull more examples, but I'm in Chemistry mode. :p
