It took Mark Philippoussis two days and five sets, but for the first time in four attempts he has won a Wimbedon quarter-final and given himself a realistic chance to clinch the game's greatest prize.
After resuming the rain-interrupted match against the German Alexander Popp at two sets all, with the Australian serving at 2-2 and 30:0, Philippoussis completed the powerful comeback he had started on Wednesday, finally prevailing 4-6 4-6 6-3 6-3 8-6.
