I think if I focused too much on the propaganda aspect of it. Man I wish i had the answers here loli swear it was for recruitment purposes, source analysis question asked us on the reliability and usefulness of historian studying propaganda and recruitment.
I said that because there were feelings of excitement and all that at the beginning of war, people were eager to sign up for their country - I didn't really know how to judge it from a propaganda point of view though.I think if I focused too much on the propaganda aspect of it. By the way with the analysis question for sources, 10 marker, how did the first source relate to recruitment/propaganda?
It most certainly was. Yes, it is trying to show the Germans as inhumane, but is that REALLY the fundamental message of the poster? The text was the answer, "A British woman wouldn't let this happen and a British women wouldn't forget it." Also "Red Cross or Iron Cross." What's the purpose of having that if it's trying to show them as inhumane? The poster is a call to action for women to enlist into the red crossi swear it was for recruitment purposes, source analysis question asked us on the reliability and usefulness of historian studying propaganda and recruitment.
So I'm wrong? :'(It most certainly was. Yes, it is trying to show the Germans as inhumane, but is that REALLY the fundamental message of the poster? To be honest I think it was one of those questions where it could of been either so I think markers wil be very leanient so don't fret!So I'm wrong? :'(
humbletaco is just being optimistic, but i doubt there will be any discrepancy with that question because it was basically the crux of the 10 marker and people could have changed it after a little more thought. So I'm wrong? :'(
Yeah I wrote that too I also had a bit of trouble relating to the propaganda bit for that source.I said that because there were feelings of excitement and all that at the beginning of war, people were eager to sign up for their country - I didn't really know how to judge it from a propaganda point of view though.
Ahh okay, well we will see what happens. I mean for the ten marker, I mentioned how it is implying women to enlist, but then again I felt the message for the multiple choice was the inhumane treatment. Idk, I felt it was both! Lol maybe they can say both are correct :S lol doubt it. I think that happened in a 2010 paper, there was a multiple choice many got wrong, but it was just one of those ''really close ones'' if I make sense. To be honest I think it was one of those questions where it could of been either so I think markers wil be very leanient so don't fret!
agreed, 100%Tbh, I dont think it was for the red cross, solely based on the fact that they wouldn't show the German "nuns" to be bitches. Unless they're saying "join the red cross to be bitches too." The point of it was to show German Inhumaness and thus urge people to join the war effort. That was my reasoning anyway.
If it was to show the inhuman nature of Germans then there would be no text. The image of an inhuman "sister" is done to manipulate the British women into joining the Red Cross, evident in the title, through morality and ethics. For example, they show the German nurses as bitches so that the British women can go, "Hey, I'm totally not a Bitch who would pour water out infront of a POW. I'm going to join the Red Cross to prove this to myself, my country and the Germans"for the multiple choice, i would have to say that it is the inhumanene answer. The poster shows a sister pouring water infront of a POW, while other germans watch on - i don't feel that this is urging women to join the red cross or whatever it was, but simply creating a greater hatred for the inhumane nature of the germans.
Exactly, it said something about women stopping this and the title was Red Cross or Iron CrossIf it was to show the inhuman nature of Germans then there would be no text. Patriotism Claudia, and I put Red Cross for the last MC (Y)What did people get for multiple choice question three, It was about 'What is the general concerned about?' and the options I remember were: general lack of excitement about the war, fatigue and discipline problems, patriotism versus reality. I went with fatigue and discipline but people are saying the patriotism one :/
It wasn't patriotism, it asked for what the soldier said, not the historian. In the soldier's extract, there was no mention of patriotism, that was only mentioned by the guy who used the two primary sources to write his secondary sourcePatriotism Claudia, and I put Red Cross for the last MC (Y)
