Hi

If you live somewhere where you have to make your own food, what shopping is available (assuming you have no car)?

Is public transport good to shopping locations?

Cheers

Everything is a walking distance away. There's a grocer just outside Unilodge and supermarkets ten minutes down the road.

bus - trip to westfield belconnen - about 15 minutes, bus comes like every 10 minutes. there's a coles/woolies there.

Thanks

Are there decently priced restaurants/bistros near by? In Melbourne there's places that serve non gourmet meals where you can pretty much afford to eat at every day- anything similiar? I don't mean fast/junk food places.

Cheers

Look, the colleges are in the CBD. Everything is there.

I've lived at self catered places for two years and I don't use the car I have - everything you need is in walking distance. There are heaps of decently priced cafes - I recommend Essen - and ther is Superbarn, ALDI, and two IGAs in the CBD. Plus ther Canberra Center is the best plaza in the city, 10 mins walk.
And the bus system is prety decent if you need to get to the other suburbs - a student ticket is $1.50
