Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

It's not as hard/boring/artsfag as you'd think. Give it a try, or overload with both subjects in the first few weeks and then drop whichever seems worse. :)

I cannot stand the thought of doing more English, but the overload thing is a good idea. Thanks!

I assume you mean the forthcoming semester. Just do it online. Should be able to do 30cp online.

On another note, I might not do MATH2065 next sem. Might do something easy like ECON1002 as an elective and do 2065 later... PDE sounds hard. Plus ill have a 3 day week if I do a 3 hr a week elective in sem2.

MATH2070 looks awesome.

I'm trying to get a transfer into BE/BSc so I can take 2061, 2065 and 2070 next year but then I'll miss out on some awesome CHNG subjects like polymer engineering and biochemical engineering. Quite a conndundrum.

ECON1002 is gay.

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

Yeh, but I love finance. I spend hours reading on economics and finance, so I thought why not actually get some recognition for it.

Come do MATH2070 with me, next sem.

MATH2061 is not that useful. It's mostly useful for mech engineering or physics, since most of the calculus stuff is to do with fields and integration. The linear part is useless, ive given up studying for the night. The papers are the same year after year so you're better off memorising techniques.

I've been a bit lazy with maths so far in my degree, so I will take a breather, otherwise a failure on pde looks likely.

Those CHNG subjects sound interesting. But if you do BE/BSc, wont you do the CHNG subjects later on in your degree? Besides I think you may be able to enrol in those maths subjects as an engineering student anyway. Just ask. I could enrol in MECH and CIVL subjects as a sci degree student.

Narrowed now the options for my 4th subject next semester.

PHIL 1012 Introductory Logic
ECON 1002 Macroeconomics
GOVT 2771 Middle East Politics and Society
WORK 1003 Foundations of Work and Employment

Currently paralysed with indecision.

Wont you go over the limit for first year CPs? As far as I know, there is a limit of 60 first year units that will count towards your degree.

Do the government subject!
Or macroeconomics.

I was planning to take the philosophy class but :S.
And the foundations of work just look likes yr12 business studies.

I need to do CHEM2403 next semester. It looks alright but I already asked and they told me you need to be in the combined to take MATH units then.

Lame! But CHEM2403 looks interesting, really. I'm going to end up doing MATH 2070 someway though.

I've done 8 first year subjects so far, so still have room for more.

Do the government subject!
Yeah, leaning towards GOVT2771, but that would mean ALL 4 subjects next sem will be GOVT. I do like a bit of variety.

Bah, if only they didnt cancel the internship.

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

Damn that sucks. Sci are heaps flexible. I have done language courses, E&B courses and it's fine.

I just saw this:

Students may enrol in both MATH2070 and MATH3075 in the same semester

https://ssa.usyd.edu.au/ssa/handboo...ex=155396&session=2&academic_year=2006&back=1

Im not sure if I should do both next sem and drop econ1002 or math2065....

I wish they would update who is taking MATH3075, as i've heard Peter Buchen left a while ago. Ive heard he was very very good, so it sucks to have him leave before we do the course.

I have a feeling the 2nd part of math2070 is quite theoretical as it goes through corporate finance valuation models, like capm which will be a good change :)

If you're going to enjoy them anyway, who cares?

If I could, I'd do all dodgy arts subjects which you don't really gain anything from. :)

[10:30 PM] Phil says::
I'm 95% sure that Rueben will drive down to Maccas and get me one if I say that I'll give him a blowjob. : D
[10:30 PM] jay says:
