R squared means if the data is linerar. i.e. a R closer to 1 suggests that as the independent variable rises, the dependant variable rises, too.

P-values are levels of confidence, to convert into a percentage for non-statisticians, do (1 - p)*100 and it will give you the percentage of significance. So 0.05 < 0.01 < 0.001 in terms of confidence. A p-value of 0.001 suggests almost complete certainty.

I can't really interpret much because I don't have the full study. I think it's saying \$59 431 is the median income for that sample size (n) and they can say with near certainty that being a female removes \$13 783 from your income ceteris paribus.
Thanks JB!!

This thing is impossible for us number noods. Might I just ask if you get why the constant goes down in model 2 and model 3?

I have no idea. Attach the PDF of the study.

Thankyou sooo much jb_nc. I'll take that to Fiona (the lecturer) and see what she says. Thanks once again, and if anyone has anything else to add, please!

I'm the same, I don't get that.

jb_nc, that's all we got for the results.

This also accompanied the handout....

Survey Documentation for Use in Your Paper

A. METHOD OF SAMPLING
The method of sampling for this surveys is the full national probability sampling of Australian households using multistage cluster sampling. Selection of households was based on equal probabilities and the selection of 30 geographical clusters from around Australia used probability proportional to size. First census districts were selected, then households within census districts.

B. SAMPLE SIZE
The sample size was 2048 individuals living in 1202 households, of whom 369 individuals were eligible for this study (by being age 25-64, unmarried, and not living with their parents). A total of N=334 individuals had data present for all six variables used in the study. The data collection period for the survey was April 1, 1994 through December 31, 1995.

C. NON-RESPONSE
Survey-takers took every reasonable effort to minimize non-response. More specifically, no replacements were allowed for nonresponding households. At least 12 call-backs were made for each household selected into the sample. The realized response rate was over 90%.

D. COVERAGE
All noninstitutionalized Australian residents (not only citizens) between the ages of 18 and 85, inclusive, were eligible for inclusion in the survey. Only those age 25-64, unmarried, and not living with their parents were included in the analyses below.

E. INTERVIEWING
The mode of data collection for the survey is face-to-face interviewing.

NOTE: The full questionnaire from this survey has been provided as a separate file. The questions used in the analyses below are:

V214 (coded as "Sex - Female")
V216 (coded as "Age - Years")
V217 (coded as "Education Level")
V220 (recoded as "Employment - FT" [employed 30 hours per week or more vs. all others])
V232 (coded as "Town Size")
V227 (recoded as "Income" [see below])

Income. The questionnaire only gives incomes as 1-10 (the actual dollar amounts appeared on a show card). The income variable has been coded in the analyses to correspond roughly to the income levels represented on the show card, as follows:
1 => \$18000.00
2 => \$24000.00
3 => \$34000.00
4 => \$43500.00
5 => \$54000.00
6 => \$64000.00
7 => \$76500.00
8 => \$92000.00
9 => \$115000.00
10 => \$150000.00

I was being serious? It was no fun, it was hard to find relevant and current research material for it and the question was obscure and lame.

I should study or go to bed. Not waste time playing trivia and surfing seek.com.au for future potential international jobs.

hey kokodamoney, was that in you wentworth this morning? You were, according my comrade, shaking your head like a bitch when you overheard us talking about left student political factions and so on?

If not then it was just a lookalike.
