No. They followed us down to Belmore Park and sat there watching us. I'd left about half an hour past when it finished and they were all still there. The amount of cops they had there was a freaking joke though.

Honestly i was in the middle of a tute... all the noise they made was quite off putting.

But yea I saw quite a few policemen and horses out at victoria park...so i guess thats why they were all there for.

Lol. Yes. They don't hide which ones are undercover. There was some dude taking heaps of notes and everything too, from some newspaper.

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread!

Why were there police in OTC? I was leaving it and I had to stand aside for about half a dozen policemen, and it's not as if it's a hotbed of crime or revolutionary discontent.

I was sitting in the quad during the people-talking-to-the-crowd bit and one of the garbled female voices sounded like she was about to burst into tears, she was so shocked and appalled by whatever she was protesting about.

On the topic of "Demand a better future"...
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21659877-1702,00.html
SMALLER than expected crowds turned up at rallies today as student unions launched a campaign against the Federal Government's policies on higher education, climate change and industrial relations.

:( I hate the Discipline of Accounting. They are tres gh3y. So much for releasing results at 5pm and not realising that 1000 students logging on at once would screw up the servers. Now we may not get them until tomorrow. I so wanted to get them :( *cuts*
I know. I know. What a shame.

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread!

NUS president Michael Nguyen said he was "probably disappointed" by crowds of only a few hundred in Sydney and Melbourne, after predictions that numbers could exceed 1000.

"It's because this is not a reactionary campaign," Mr Nguyen said.

"This is a positive campaign about the youth perspective."
I don't see what the link between 'non-reactionary, positive campaign' and 'low turnout' is. Anyone?

i think it's because people just don't give a shit anymore. with VSU there was something to protest about. Right now, there's nothing major going on to protest about.

funny, i actually love some of my classes
the atmosphere,
the laughter,
the warmth,
the fresh feeling that never gets renewed over time.
ironically
sometimes the bigger the distance some people are from you
the better you feel around them
when they seem closer
they are actually stepping further away
from the honest doors of yours
with a smirk on their face
waving not at you
but at their egos

Man, uni is shite this semester. Physical chemistry labs are shocking and the amount of assignments I get is unbelievable (I have four due next week). I don't have a social life anymore. :(

i actually like physical better than organic, but they're both pretty bad. but at least i can repeat physical pracs if i get a shit mark. i repeated one today, it took me 20 mins to prepare everything and then i had to wait an hour for a freaking machine :burn: i better get more than 7/10 or i'll be pissed

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread!

I agree with Tennille... uni is absolutely shocking this semester. We have sooo much work to do and now I have to start studying for my exams. I haven't looked at ANY lectures for two of my subjects (both neuro subjects). I'm stuffed. I have done all my assessments so far (and for PCOL(toxicology) I have failed three out of three quizzes worth 6% each).

Omg, I saw Stas irl for the first time EVER.. took a couple of years lol.
