Hey All,

I've got a question that will probably seem silly but its like the great wall of china blocking me from doing my assignment.

I'm confused as to what i'm looking for in my assessment, its on Ideas to Implementation and the topic is Solid State, but in my brief attempt i've run into transistors and semiconductivity.

Which of these do you think I'm supposedly looking for? The teacher, whom is away at the moment has called it Solid State and Semiconductivity?

Is there even any difference?

Silly questions I know but it is the HSC and I can't afford a silly mistake.

Solid state physics is the study of solids (obviously), things like crystal structure/lattices, movement of electrons, and properties like electrical & thermal conductivity

our knowledge of semiconductors (and therefore transistors and other semiconductor devices) came from solid state physics

it's just the term "solid state" doesn't really appear in the official topic names in the syllabus, so your teacher has confused you by including it

just read the instructions really carefully :D
