I'm doing my SGP right now too, and i've chose to do Crime in the city of Canterbury. Fantastic info, i found :/

BTW, i'm a bit confused about the methodologies... :(
What is it? I've asked my sister, and she's told me that it's the methods i used to find the information; such as surveys and stuff/ But i can't use surveys in this Project.. what to do?

:D ty

If I were you I would use surveys to identify misconceptions held within the public about crime in the city of Canterbury. Just a suggestion, take it or leave it.

Interviews are also methodologies. Interview a few cops, higher up if possible.

hey there,

In my textbook it tells you all about the SGP in depth and possible topics. the textbook is Global Interactions 1, 2 Ed.

Hope that helps
Hi,

The problem is that I don't have Global Interactions 1,2 Ed.
Unfortunately, my teacher did not suggest anything that we could do our SGP on.

Thanks for the help anyway! :)

well i did mine on whether or not speed limiting practices/devices should be used on a particular street. he broke up the marking into 5 parts, but i forget what's what. i got:
5/6
11/12
11/12
17/18
17/24 (in class essay)

so i did a pretty good job with the project itself (44/48), i just couldn't write about it :p

Im doing it on the impacts of mining in the ulan region.
Yepp i've had it for 5 months and its due on monday..
So i decided i'd stat it tonight,
Geeshhh good plan that was.. NOT!
Anyway whenever you're deciding on choosing a topic for ur SGP i think its a good idea to have a look on the web at the examples of past SGP's available

Well, goodluck

Mine's due second day back, 28th of July. That gives me 10 days to do it, and I just started. 2500 word essay, 12 min speech, and 12 min powerpoint.

I'm doing it on water quality at a lake in my local area, so nice and easy to get primary research for high marks. :)

Did the speech for mine a few weeks ago and ripped it. I felt that I spoke well with perfect eye contact/good use of colloquial language, so I reckon... 22/25 for the speech and 65/75 on report.

I'll find out next week sometime... hopefully.

I'm thinking about doing the effects of vigilantism in sydney. Thoughts on the topic? Too hard? Average? Not appropriate? I'm stressing out!!! :evilfire:

Personally, I don't think that it is particularly appropriate and way too hard.

I'm not sure what your level of understanding of an SGP is so i will just briefly go through choosing a question, and if you need more help i am available via email (and MSN TONIGHT ONLY)
This may (or may not) help you decide an area of research.
______________________________________
PLEASE NOTE:
The syllabus states that the investigation should be based on primary sources of information and may also refer to secondary sources.
Therefore, an emphasis on primary sources will score higher marks that an SGP with an emphasis on secondary sources.

So - you should focus on something which has relatively easy methods to obtain PRIMARY DATA
______________________________________

Decide on a geographical focus question.

How?
Choose a broad area:
1. Human impact on the Physical Environment/ or management

How does urban settlement impact on the water quality of a section of _ _ _ _ _ Creek?

How does urban settlement impact on natural vegetation at _ _ _ _ ?eg exotic species

How does recreational activity impact on natural vegetation at_ _ _ _ ?

2. Human Environment

What has been the impact of urban consolidation in your local area?

What are the characteristics of the customers and tributary area of _ _ _ _ retail outlet or shopping centre?

What factors contribute to the traffic problem (accident location or traffic bottle neck) at_ _ _ _ _ ?
Etc.

How to refine a topic.
Pick something interesting, something you like and something close to you
E.g.
1) Land/National Parks
2) Human Impacts on National Parks
3) The Human impact on XYZ National Park
4) To What extent has the ABC Trail impacted on the native flora species in XYZ National Park

Can you see how I got to the focus question of:
To what extent has the ABC Trail impacted on the native flora species in XYZ National Park

From here you could talk about numerous areas such as invasion and succession due to a lack of precautionary measures and even go onto the Ecosystem management principles.

I would be more than happy to help you with your SGP :pirate:

I Have also emailed you if you would like private help

My mark was 20/20. It was done as a powerpoint containing 50 slides (pics, results, etc) and the project was about land degradation in regards to a local subdivision.
