Does anyone know what ATAR needs to be attained to rank in the top 10 percent of the state?
The ATAR is a rank...but counting everyone of high school leaving age, not just those that do the HSC. So if you got an ATAR of 90 or more you are meant to be academically in the top 10%. UAC has lots of data about the distributions of ATARs of people who actually did the HSC on their website. Apparently to be in the top 10% of those who did the HSC (and got an ATAR) this year you needed to get 94.05 (which still sounds a bit high to me??)

ATAR matches you with the Year 7 cohort. Remove the drop outs from Year 10, you get most of the ATARs allocated to the drop outs (perhaps everything below 30 or so), out. From the remaining HSC-graduating candidature with ATARs from say, 30.05 to 99.95, top 10% puts you in 94.05, from the data given.

I got 84.50. Im really happy with my ATAR, but I was hoping i could get into the 85 once i saw my marks from yesterday, and the calculator estimate was 85.3. But im pretty happy with this rank as well, it is better than my aim of 80 ATAR at the beginning of the HSC.

89.95 just 0.05 would of been so much nicer and the calculators predicted 92.5 :(

96.4. The calculators called 97.5ish, so I'm feeling slightly let down, but it gets me into my highest preference, can't complain. Excited it's all over, and I got what I needed.

93.20 for me =)

Pretty bloody happy. Up until yesterday, I never thought I'd make it remotely close to 90+.
And considering my First Preference is 74, I'm fairly confident of getting in =P

92.35. Was hoping for 95, but my assessment marks dragged me down quite a bit.
Still happy though! Should get me into the course I want to do! :)
