I got my formal suit today, its black with white/grey stripes, so what would are some good colours for the shirt and tie ?

shirt in white would probably be simplest.

depending on how in-ur-face the pinstripe is you could go a colour, however, some say that the pinstripe is a feature in itself and u shouldn't try to compete with it.

so maybe like a gunmetal grey colour tie?
i probably wouldn't go a patterned tie. i think a block colour or tone would work better with a pinstripe, but that might be just me.

as mentioned, keep it simple if running a bold pinstripe. Plain white shirt.
Go a coloured tie if you like, but keep it toned down. Lighter shades should serve you well. Subtle. If you want a pattern in your tie, try to look for something with a textured pattern that sticks to a colour tone, as opposed to something with different coloured lines, dots etc.
School kids have a tendency to wear some horrendously clashing, bright and vulgar shit. I know i did. Don't be one of them haha.

You may want to try and match your date too. And if she is wearing pink.... that's unfortunate. Fuck matching.
