literally what the title says.

i have my first year 12 math exam in about a week or so and ive been on the fence about dropping it for a while. I do well in all my other subjects but maths is by far my worst subject due to me just having a general disliking for it. Whats keeping me on the fence is how much courses have maths as a prereq/recommended subject. Im not sure what im gonna do in uni which is why im not sure if i should keep it or not. Ik i can actually do well if i put the same amount of effort into math as I did my other subjects so, am i better off dropping something else or pushing thru math and doing a bridging course/refresher if my uni course needs it?

yup wait and see how the upcoming exam goes. i understand you might hate it and it might suck but since you are not 100% sure on what you want to do in uni i would keep maths to see if you suddenly become interested in stem subjects that need it or if you needed the atar boost that comes with doing maths (even if its standard).

personally after reading your thing i would suggest dropping to standard if you aren't already doing standard instead of dropping completely, a lot of people tend to like it a bunch more than advanced bc its not as tedious and obv less challenging so you can do better in it

Standardd! I was recommended to do adv but i chose std bc people that did adv were REALLY smart so i knew id never be able to rank top 3

okay if you are struggling with standard in terms of the content being too difficulty, workload, not liking it etc. you should probably drop it

dw about the prerequisite stuff honestly there are very few stem subjects that require maths as a prerequisite and honestly if you dislike standard maths i dont see you pursuing a uni degree that is maths heavy. as for scaling and stuff standard scales badly if you do badly in it so it isn't worth the trouble

Maths equips you with problem solving skills so if you want to go into a technical career, I recommend keeping it or at least studying it recreationally
