Should all religions...races...and all the poeple from all over the world Unite?

what do u think?

Since all the world leaders in our world today claim that they are on a quest for peace... 'attacking Iraq'... 'capturing terrorist'... 'cracking down on crime'...etc...
All in order to achieve the universal goals..."peace and Unity"

Since everyone wants it why is it so unachievable?...

A question that lurks in many minds....

If we really claim that we want peace, unity, harmony.. etc... is there no other alternative to war?...

Are our minds so different in nature that it has become literally impossible for unity to ever be achieved?.......

HAVE YOUR SAY.... but make a serious attempt to really think about ur answer......

This doesn't really make sense. There's a difference between peace and unity. You make it sound as though you want all races and so on to 'unite' into one single group. This would result in a loss of culture, language, history, etc - the things that make different races unique.

I believe that aiming for peace and harmony in the world is admirable, but uniting the people of over 200 countries simply wouldn't work.

I mean as to unite... but without having to lose all those cultural differences.. such as how Australia is a multicultural society... however descrimination, hatred.... they all still exist........ My point being:

Shouldn't we study.. read.. learn about the uniqness of other cultures... if we are given the chance to be united as one body... then we will understand why a certain group of people do a thing or the other...

To unite as one body.. I don't mean that we should all speak english and just throw away our languages.. or that we should all dress in the same way...
No.. a way were we unite... where if anyone from any country were to visit that of another.. it would be as thoiugh they are entering their own home..(because they allready know what is waiting for them at the other side...)....

I mean segregation is what causes anger...hatred...intollerance... etc.......

In summary... UNITY IN HEART... which will lead to peace...

Should we have unity in Heart? ... or IS IT POSSIBLE for us to be united in HEART?... would be a better question

that's what i want to know... do u think it's possible... and if not why?????

Do we do it by attacking another country.,.. will that really bring peace?

Or create unity?

u know wat i think....everyone wants peace and unity as long as its beneficial to them....we live in a selfish world where evereyone is looking out for themselves....for example....why cant we find a solution to the arab/isreali war?....because each side wants peace at the expense of the other side....no one can agree, the israelis ays that there will be peace if the palestinians just stop their resistence and the palestinians say there will be peace if the israelis stop attacking their villages......bush wants peace in the US and wants to destroy all terrorist oragnistaions in the US yet look at wat he has ordered in Iraq....he is willing to invade a country and watch it fall to pieces becasue this benefits him.....we all do want peace and untiy but to everyone this means something different....we wont eva agree on wat will bring peace and unity because someones peace could be at my expense....we also all have different opinions and beliefs etc which stand in the way of unity and peace.....we will neva unite...its just the nature of humans to look out for number one...themselves...

why cant we all unite? ofcourse we can - in theory

when we look at ourselves in society, we feel that we're happy where we are! we're living such happy lives that we may easily forget what unites us- our common race of humanity?

ur talkin about a large cross-cultural exchange, which can prove costly! the best way to learn of the cultures of other people is to travel, which can't possibly be done by everyone in this world?

hmmmm, if u wanna unite us all, u have to wait for another natural disaster. See how we all united at the notion that people in S.E asia may be suffering right now? thats unity!

i know it sounds stupid (coz it is! ), but if u can wait for a natural disaster, and then make ur move at restoring a more permanent understanding of cultures- then u may have made a start at restoring unity to this world.
---------------------------------------

really i dont care if there is unity or not in this world. at the end of the day, i know that i will never live to see it happen (yeah im a pessimist :p) . So what i do is make sure that i for one have mustered this essense of unity within me. i look out for those around me, and if they take it upon themselves to act against me, well.... thats their problem :)
at the end of the day, i am united - with the idea of humanity. And if everyone else logs on to this idea of humanity, then just, maybe a utopia of peaceful existence can emerge :)

that's another thing isnt it!

its gunna be quite expensive to do that eh!

like i said, we look at ourselves and think what we have is good enough! we may be happy with our class but others are not, or we may want a higher class/standing in society ;)

like i said, it cant be achieved in my time, so i dont spend time thinking about that. What am i gunna do anywayz? :p

i dont think it would happen
there is too much religous and cultural clash
everyone would have to think the same..religon culture etc
because what is dividing us in the first place?

Do you suppose this 'uniting' is in much the same as Globalisation? or creating a World government?

No we wouldnt have to all think the same, we would just have to learn to respect and accept the fact that not all of us have the same beleifs and way of living. Its really not that hard to do.

it won't work
its similiar to communism

"everyone is equal"

but then, when everyone comes together, they will have conflict of interest...

say Christmas for example, for people who believe in them, they will definately continue believing in them after this "united" thing, as for people that doesn't believe in them, they too will continue believing their morals
and what happens when they come together? there will be arguments, and what happens when theres a lot of arguments and scores can not be settle, we go back to square one

Isn't that called multiculturalism? How do you enforce such a protocol internationally?

....No. You'd know this if you realised what happens to Christian missionaries in Muslim countries. They don't want to be converted and they don't want other religions in their county.
Same with Palestine and all those countries. Fighting over religion. They worship the same God, yet blow each other up. It just isn't possible.

Just can't happen. Wouldn't work.

Alexander the Great did a form of this when he conquered Persia, India and Egypt. He instated his own politicians into thse counties, adopted their religions/dress codes, and allowed them to have some form of cultural identity. It worked, until the Macedonians got shitty with it.
Not the best example but it shows that it won't please everybody, and once you get a group that becomes pissed off, it = trouble.

If it was as easy as saying 'Let's all learn to love and respect each other regardless of religious affliliations', I'm sure we'd have done it by now.

The Pope made an interesting quote. He said in order for there to be world peace, the wealthier countries need to give to the poorer countries.
It'd be interesting to see whether the Catholic Church (richest organisation in the world) does for its poorer Christian counties in Africa and the Middle East, as well as in the pacific, etc.

um..yes it is hard to do

and if it was easy then we would all be living happily in peace and harmony
