What exactly was the motivation of Ambrose to help Simon cover up the murder of Clarissa.

It's not like he'd lose his precious island if Simon was arrested... or did he have a moment of non selfishness?

Maybe it's because Simon killed Clarissa because she was manipulating him seductively, and Ambrose was also being manipulated by her so he felt sympathetic.
Or maybe he's just weird.
