hm, at the moment, i'm a lot more concerned about the Reflection Statement. I've sort of gotten over my actual response - can't really do much about it, any more. But my teacher/mentor asked me to write a draft Reflection Statement, and I can't even seem to get past 1000 words. by the way, i'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what stuff to put in there. Anyway, I hope everyone's working their butts off during the holidays, and good luck!

well my advice is to use the layout thats proscribed on page 2 of the main forum. Jhakka for some reason locked the Reflection Statement thread so its been slipping away and away into eventual oblivion. See it while its still there. Page 2 - main page of English ext 2.

Yeah mine's coming along really well at the moment.

I'm doing a Jungian psychoanalysis of Little Red Riding Hood appropriations to examine the evolving representations of gender identtiy in the texts, ultimately affirming the value of harbouring autonomous defintions of personal and psychological identity.

god... after my riddiculus amounts of drafts etc.. i decided to read the syllabus and saw that the word limit included the reflection statement
haha

I had to cut out heaps, but it was actually the best thing that happened because I had to scrutinise every word and paragraph, was forced to be honest about which bits were the most effective and how I could style the whole response in that fashion.

As far as actual progress - i've done like 3-5 drafts of each of my three textual analyses plus the 3 major drafts...
and a one reflection statement draft

I'm hoping to get another major draft and maybe one or two more refleciton statements.

What's everyone elses topics etc this year?

hm, mine's more sociologically oriented with racialism as a primary focus. i'm looking at American society - simply because there's a greater range of texts available on discrimination/social discourse in America.
i hope everyone's doing as well as frankyd (with so many drafts) - i've only done a couple of my major work (doing the third one now) and first draft of my RS (which, as stated above, i'm struggling with).
anyway, good luck for the trials! and hooray, the submission is now only a month away :-|

Yeah, racism seems to be an interesting topic.

My friend is doing hers on the racial identity embedded within south african literature, as a reflection of the post-apartheid culture and the remnants of apartheid ideologies ingrained within the society.

Three major drafts is fine case88 at this point. I've only done three actual major drafts, although I did a few individual drafts of sections (ie. thesis, text 1, text 2.. etc) which were really aimed more at experimenting with and developing language & style.

What sort of language is everyone going for?

I've thrown the "academic intellgient abuse of long words and jargon" approach out the window in my last draft. Trying to use playful and clever language to make it so much more interesting.
