Sure, but I want it from chicks...redslert said:Want me to do it to you next time I see you?
But I haven't seen you once since this session started...
obviously if no one tried and just stood there, no one would approach anyone...Casmira said:hey i was told you dont need to try people approach you, that hasnt happend except in tutorials when youre forced *sigh*
maybe you dont understand me lundass, i never really wanted people too approach me at all (maybe a few) but not like a mass gathering because i tell you now youd get distracted from actual work and uni isnt like school where you can miss a few weeks work and still know whats going onLundy said:You really need to just sit next to someone in a lecture/tute and introduce yourself. You can't go through uni expecting people to come to YOU. Whoever told cockmira that is an idiot. Yeah if the person doesn't feel like talking or it doesn't go over well, who cares? A little bruised dignity, but meh. You'll live.
From experience most people you say hi to will be happy to at least exchange pleasantries. They're probably feeling similarly shy the prospect of breaking the ice with people and'll be glad you took the initiative.
Yeah, take it from me. I'm shy as well and socialising has never been my forte'. Actually, I don't really have uni 'friends'. Acquaintances, yes, but no one I've really forged a lasting bond with. Meh.
Yes I really needed the lowdown on how uni works. Having been there 2 weeks, I imagine you're quite the expert now.Casmira said:maybe you dont understand me lundass, i never really wanted people too approach me at all (maybe a few) but not like a mass gathering because i tell you now youd get distracted from actual work and uni isnt like school where you can miss a few weeks work and still know whats going on

He was in a few of my classes last year. Fob-iest honkey ever. Always walked in twenty minutes late with his headphones going full loud.
I was going to go make friends with (read: steal bbq goodness from) some of the first years today, but i went to the wrong freakin lawn. Walked aaall the way up the steps for it too.
actually i got no clue whats going on, i still occasionly refer too the mapLundy said:Yes I really needed the lowdown on how uni works. Having been there 2 weeks, I imagine you're quite the expert now.
Don't be a narcissist, and don't bother talking to people outside of labs/tuts. You'll never see them again. Actually, for that matter, what are the chances of seeing any of these uni people 10 years after you've leftI mean, after they go into their crappy law degree and sit there grinding through paperwork whilst you're having the time of your life spreading germs in laboratories or bringing knowledge to a new wave of people, you won't see them again.politik said:How do you find the courage to do that though - I just can't chat up anybody, I've tried but it usually fails.
lol you act so tough on these forums but you've admitted it all here, you're just a pansy... hah!politik said:I joined CSE Revue to make some friends this year, I doubt ill find any women there though.
That's a completely wrong attitude to take in Uni. You are better of making more friends if you want to do well in uni. You will never be able to get help with assignments, discuss work or get notes that you missed if you don't make friends in all your courses. Plus there is group work in every single course you take in the near future, especially in commerce, if you don't make friends and all organise to attend the same tutorial you will end up having to join a group of strangers only to find that they are lazy and doesn't really care if they fail everything.Casmira said:maybe you dont understand me lundass, i never really wanted people too approach me at all (maybe a few) but not like a mass gathering because i tell you now youd get distracted from actual work and uni isnt like school where you can miss a few weeks work and still know whats going on
