its true though, Arsenal turns players into stars
Great thing is, his style of play seems to complement Henry very well. Give them a good 10-15 game run together next season and it could turn into an awesome front-two pairing.

A good manager's influence is so important for a player's development. One only needs to compare what Rafa has done with Houllier's signings in 1 season with what Houllier did to his signings. You have to remember that people like Anthony LeTallec and Florent Sinama-Pongolle were considered to be talents equal to Ronaldo in their junior days.. not after Houllier had his way with them.

Applause to Wenger for the job he's done in developing talent. It's always sad to see potential wasted.

Back to some footballin newz

THE SUN

* Patrick Vieira was last night sensationally dragged into the Ashley Cole tapping-up storm. Arsenal skipper Vieira is accused of sending text messages telling Cole to demand £80,000 a week in his pay row with club chiefs.

* Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is lining up a sensational £15million bid for Spanish superstar Raul.

* Alan Pardew wants to bring bad-boy Lee Bowyer back to West Ham.

* Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is back in the hunt for Paul Robinson and is preparing a mega-money move for the Tottenham keeper.

DAILY MIRROR

* Liverpool are preparing one of the biggest transfer coups ever as they line up Real Madrid skipper Raul. The Champions League all-time top scorer has visited the club four times in recent months, and contact has been made with the 27-year-old over the possibility of a sensational move to England - after he indicated he is ready to leave Spain

* Ashley Cole wanted to leave Arsenal because it is run by a French clique, the Premier League inquiry was told.

* Graeme Souness will do battle with Everton next week for Chelsea's Scott Parker.

DAILY STAR

* Michael Essien has urged Chelsea to snap him up from Lyon as soon as they can. The Ghana midfielder - one of Europe's hottest properties - is desperate for a move to the Premiership.

* Manchester United will have to sell star players like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo to pay for Malcolm Glazer's takeover.

* Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira allegedly told Ashley Cole he should not ``settle for less than £80,000 a week'' in his new contract negotiations.

DAILY EXPRESS

* Real Madrid star Raul has raised the possibility of a move to Liverpool admitting that he is considering quitting Spain. The Madrid captain visited the newly-crowned European champions' training ground recently during one of several trips to Merseyside to see former Bernabeu team-mate Fernando Morientes.

All thiz stuff about Raul, makez it very interestin indeed.

Not sure if we want Raul. £15 million would be a bargain if we signed the Raul of 3 or 4 years ago, but recently he's been rubbish. I don't think it's just poor form either.. poor form doesn't usually last 2 years straight. On top of that his wages will be astronomical. Then again maybe he'll find his way again under Rafa's guidance.. it's still a big risk though.

You saying that six hundred thousand pounds of fines and three points deducted is not proper?

Considering that Chelsea may well have set a precedent for future tapping up incidents, I'd say they got off pretty darn easy. Besides they've only received a 'suspended' 3 point fine, meaing if they fecked up again they'd lose them. Now if it turns out that they did tap up Frank Arnesen I think we'll see them lose those 3 points and hopefully more. The FA is way too lenient.

Yeh i first read these repots linking Raul to the Reds a few mths ago, didnt think ne thing of them at the time...

Raul & Morientes was a great partnership at Madrid pre-Ronaldo, it'll b interesting to see how things develop if Raul actually does join up w/ Moro once again at Anfield.

If he does sign, then someone would have to go. Baros perhaps? Though that will still be hard, considering either morientes or cisse would sit on the bench.

She was 15 if I remember andhe was 20ish. You'd think a footballer could pull closer to his own age.

Chelsea were only fined 300k and given a "suspended" 3 point ban. 300k is hardly going to hurt them. Now that they've got away with it once there's no reason for themnot to do it again, as seen by the Arnesen incidnet.

# Ashley Cole will never sign another contract with Arsenal.
Sounds so dramatic.

# Liverpool are chasing Nuremberg's Slovakian striker Marek Mintal, top scorer in the Bundesliga last season.
I thought the top-scorer was Ailton.

# Graeme Souness will make Inter's Turkish midfielder Emre his first summer signing for Newcastle.
Another Souness victim then.

But then again, it was Houliier who helped them develop when he was the French technical director.

Is that it ? He used to be worth 70Mills in CM.

Mega-money ? He isn’t worth mega-money.

Had a feeling this would surface sometime. Sure took him a while.

600K is a drop in the ocean for Chelsea. Anyway, if they are found guilty again, I wonder if they’ll start the season with -3 points.
