I personally place socialism eg sweden as between hardline authoritarian communism and the centre (on a conventional left right axis).

On a compass communism is top left quadrant socialism bottom left quadrant.

Just figured i'd open a thread to talk about the differences... such as with Facism, is it really the extreme of the right wing governments we see at the moment? If you listen to musillini talking about facism, i'd say not.
IMO, howard & bush etc follow capitalism.

I'd say australian politics definately leans to the right, even labor as much as some of them would want to change it leans to the right.
The only major party that leans to the left enough to be called a "left wing" party i'd say would be the greens.

If the right wing of labor really was liberals without christianity that would be where i belong, but i somehow believe there would still be the matter of workers rights where I believe that we need to build a strong productive workforce to keep our economy strong..
