One of my Extension short stories is from the view point of John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Abraham Lincoln. Some of the story is concerned with his musings as to the nobility of his cause (ie the return of slavery) and his willingness to commit a heinous crime to free the US from the 'shackles of tyranny'. I was just wondering, if I end up writing it in the exam, would it be worthwhile to put a disclaimer saying that the views expressed in the story are not those of the author? I know its not an issue that is particularly pertinent today but I really don't want it to get flagged if I happen to get a group of overcautious markers that assume I am some crazy racialist.

Don't do the disclaimer.

The story idea is ok. There's probably something more interesting/relevant you could do, but it works.

Thank you :)
Yes, the idea itself is not the best because I usually make my stories character rather than plot driven. My teacher said, provided I do it from an interesting angle, it could work. There is no big drama if it isn't my best, I already have 2 stories that I like more, and this is just going to be my backup (considering the stimulus given is always quite random).
