Thats 'cause more state and non-Catholic schools are doing it

Massive increase in state schools across the last 2 years....

dominance by females due to it (usually 1 unit) being compulsory in most all girls catholic schools (ie no Catholic Studies)

More random facts bought to you by the Association for Studies of Religion!!

OT
*strange, I always thought there were more students doing the course...does this mean that there are less than 10,000 (approx/guestimate) Catholic Yr 12 students in the state?......
How many all up again (total catholic # and total HSC #)......doesnt seem to add to the figures cited by the Opposition re school funding.... or am I too cynical!*

In my school you have to either do SOR 1 unit of Catholic studies and naturally about 80% do Catholic Studies. But starting from next year all yr 11s are forced to do SOR for the preliminary year and then can drop to Catholic Studies in yr 12 or keep SOR 1 unit. No SOR 2 unit offered unfortunately

naw..I started teaching yr 11 SOR 1 (or 1 unit as it was known way back then!!) back in '95 and there was a yr 11 2 unit class and and yr 12 2 unit class (but no yr 12 1 unit from memory). Im pretty sure the first SOR HSC exam was in '94 as I have a HSC paper from then!!
Past papers back to 1995 (1 and 2 unit) at http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2000exams/index4.html#s if you are really interested to see how its changed (I reckon it was easier!!)

Whats the changes in 2006?
if you go to the Board website->HSC syllabus->"S" (for SOR!!)->draft syllabus (I think its the first one listed in the column from memory

major changes
no ISP
CR studies are combined into one study.: no compare/contrast as such
Rel in Oz is before/after 1945
Peace unit in 2 unit?
Ancient religions
no Aboriginal unit as such (split across 11 and 12 in the Rel in Oz units)

2 unit is a shocker IMO

thats all I can think of at the moment

The majority of my friends moved from SOR1 to SOR2 for the HSC. If it weren't compuslory they probably wouldn't do it at all, but they see it being that case that if they must do a bit of it, why not go the full way.

I do not see it that way, but that is fine.

Catholic studies is not offered.

What the fuck? What a drastic change. Necessary in my opinion though. The current SOR syllabus itself is a 'shocker'.

nope...have seen (and been the victim of) worse in the SOR forum

BTW... absolution....please watch the language. Dont want to sound like a forum nazi or anything but its not appropriate or necessary given the nature of this forum and some of its users.......

Besides, students are not the only ones to read this stuff as well you know......

Bwhahahahaa. This is a joke right?

Why is this section of the forum any different to the other ones? Teachers read the other parts of the forum too. Youre a cool guy snapperhead, but i disagree with your moderation. I should still be allowed to voice opinions and swear as i do in other parts of this forum. This is afterall a HSC forum, designed for teenagers doing the HSC. I think its a great job you do here but enough with the over-moderation thanks.
Accept that some people do not have such conservative views pertaining to religion and language as you and move on. Its not as if i was being in any way abusive.

Cheers.

I agree that sometimes you must swear, its unavoidable sometimes, but is it really necessary to swear over a change in SOR syllabus
