Yup.. maybe they did that on purpose to try and keep some continuivity from the movie to the TV series?

but i must say, i agree with the critics about the movie, it sucked. But as a series, it works much better, the whole concept of forming ties with many other planets and fighting the goauld gradually through the series works really well.

yeah i wonder if they'll end up ever beating the goauld everytime they kick sum1's ass theres just sum1 bigger and badder. tho i spose if they did end up winning there would be no show left. that is unless they all ascend and start fiting the ancients. that could be cool

the movie had a good concept, i love the scene where daniel figures out the starsigns by looking at the guys' paper.

the thing with the tv series, it has something so many other seies lacks, character development and continuity. most other shows have an episode and forget about it, with stargate the characters and the themes reoccur which makes t more of a fan based show.

in this way, it avoids being monotonous, it kinda keeps on trying to better itself.

one of my fav eps was 2010, where they send the note back to themselves, but then a while later that was followed up when they travelled to the planet, the plot follows through

It's kind of like Babylon 5 with the continual development theme.
I liked the movie. I can't see what was wrong with it, apart from the strange idea.

Nothing much for me to add, but I agree that StarGate SG-1 is one of the best shows I've ever seen and I never get sick of it. Though I do get sick of Chanel 7 giving it a new timeslot every other week, to suit their ratings. It's been on at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 this season and there are double episodes without warning which I've almost missed.

One criticism about the movie : Jack O'Neil (the original actor) is a terrible, two dimensional character that is painfully stereotypical. God bless Richard Dean Anderson, even if his hair isn't the same colour it was at the start of the series.

Oh, and good for you Generator with the Discworld quotes. I thought I'd throw a few in for good measure.

"You won't get away with this," said Cutwell. He thought for a bit and added, "Well, you will probably get away with it, but you'll feel bad about it on your deathbed and you'll wish -- " He stopped talking.

"I'm not going to ride on a magic carpet!" he hissed.
"I'm afraid of grounds."
"You mean heights," said Conina. "And stop being silly."
"I know what I mean! It's the grounds that kill you!"

thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming "Arrrrrrgh!" and axing their legs off at the knee.

Stargate's a great show. The script writing is great, and has the odd reference to Maguyver (Anderson's other big role), and a good mix of serious drama and comedy. The special effects get better every season. Most importantly though, the show has continuity. Unlike most other sci-fi shows, stargate tends to leave a loose end in some shows to come back to, which really help to reinforce the main plot.

that entire scene was a bit hmmmmm STOLEN!

I would like to know why (in that last ep) they didn't just beam up a naquida/naquidria enhanced warhead instead of the dynamic duo like they did to kill Ra. But on the other hand that would prob make for a pretty boring season.;)

Insightful. No, wait, boring. Firstly, the nuke was laced with naquida (by Ra). Secondly it doesn't take time to develop "da bomb", it only took time in that one where they were trying to create a giant chain-reaction to wipe out a planet, and besides, they X-302's have ones they could just take out. Thirdly if they can indeed choose what to beam aboard (this is with the ring transport) then why i)did Ra choose to beam aboard his bomb ii)why did Anubis decide to let the dynamic duo (Jackson and Jonas) aboard to destroy his ship?? Oh also the shields work on the outside, not on the inside of the ship where the bomb would detonate!

No, they just buy a bomb from the terrorists and add naquida. Duh. Or maybe they just take one out of the X-302. "God Bless Waffles"-George Bush?

yeah i really like the last episode (so far) but that core scene was sooooooo very cliche tho evrything else (like using the hyper drive to get past the shields) was top notch. talk about suspense!!!
