Hey everyone.

I will be commencing a BSc at Swinburne in Melbourne in August as a mature age student. I have chosen science primarily because I find it very interesting and did quite well at high school level science.

So many people have asked why on earth I would want to do Science due to the job prospects in Australia apparently being so low. Moving overseas has always been my goal anyway, just got my dual citizenship with my families country of origin.

Does anyone know of the science grad opportunities in the US/Europe/Asia?

Thanks.

Most people who wants to go into research go on to do further studies (PhD). A BSc will at best get you a research assistant position.

Once you graduate with a PhD, finding a job as a post-doctoral scientists depends on your publication record, i.e. how many papers have you published and the qualities of these papers on the basis of the journal in which they are published.

It's pretty much the standard anywhere you go.
