Hey guys!

Well i have all my info/resources etc. and ive written a decent essay plan for Lear, but its in structure of theme by theme (appearance v reality, justice/injustice, family relationships). when i handed it in to my teacher, she noted that itd be better if it was in the order of the play - scene by scene ... i dont know what to do ... what do u guys reckon?

Thanks for any help ;)

Theme by theme, and pick the appropriate scenes as you go as evidence

OR

Scene by scene, and demonstrate/justify the happenings in the scene with themes

...

It really depends on how you think your essay is better structured and what you want to emphasise more. I'd do it theme by theme because you can use all the necessary scenes and accentuate the theme that's evident throughout the play. If you go scene by scene you end up being repetitive regarding themes and overlap your evidence. With theme by theme you can accurately pinpoint the key scenes that relate to it and show better understanding and allow your essay to flow better.
