So what do u guys do before exams?
I:
- read through my class notes
- read through my textbook
- make notes in a small exercise book (right hand page)
- write any examples, rhymes or poems to help with theory (left hand page)
- read/compare with excel book
- do some practice hsc questions and hand into teacher

what do other people do? what do u find works and doesnt?

I don't know what you think, but I found most of the Excel guides pretty terrible

i write everything down in class that the teacher says..i can only ever learn something if i've written it down. therefore when i sudy i rite out masses of notes. that is all

this kinda relates to study routines i guess, but i physically cannot study sitting at a desk, i have to fool myself into thinking im not studying
:. i sit cross legged in the middle of my bed (its a queen) with all my stuff spread out around me.
only way it works for me.

i used to write notes the day b4 the exam...and the when it came to the exam day, i didnt read them...so that didnt help....

i try to study at my desk coz if i dont i keep getting distracted, ie i can study well on the floor but learn only 10 per cent of stuff its just takes too long

see, im the opposite, i take in nothing at my desk, my mind wanders, and i can only 'study' for about 15 minutes, whereas if im on my bed, i can go for as long as i need.

For science subjects:

-Go through the syllabus, write down the dot points and answer them in an exercise book

For Maths:

-Do exercises, questions, past papers until I know I can do something and then keep going until I eliminate silly errors completely

For English:

-Write essays and creative writing things to use in exams, memorise them and practice adapting them to different questions

-Draw mind maps of main themes and issues in the text as well as similarities and differences between texts

i agree!

what i do is i write notes from school notes, textbooks and study guides and do some practice questions i also make up little rhymes

Use Macquarie Revision Guides, much more concise while still giving a complete overview of the course

Think about looking at summaries
Go play the computer
Think about looking at them again
Go use the internet
Think about doing a few questions
Fix up something my little brother stuffed up
Magically convince myself that I know everything.

im soooo bad at studying. I have a whacked up philosophy that if I try and fail I have nothig, so I do everything half assed and then get disapointed when I don't go as well as I hoped. But at least I know I COULD do better.

Argh. Will force myself next week.
