How many hours each day should I be contributing to these subjects to succeed? Are there any particular tips in terms of studying these subjects (methods) etc.

Economics

These are tips I got from my tutors and advisors:

-For Maths-
Constantly revise work during term
That includes writing down important notes
Do lots of practice or past exam papers in freetime (esp holidays)
Time your practice exam until you make it
Before the test, go over important points but you should be able to know everything by now

-For English-
Read a lot. That includes fictional novels and newspapers
Write essays as much as you can on paper and time them
While reading, try to gauge out important lines and their context
Relate to the topic you're studying in class, for example "Power"

I'm not too sure about the other three, but they're all pretty much the same. You should refer to your syllabuses in the BOSTES website where you can get information on what is required of the student in each subject.
