our trials are on now, they dont count towards HSC marks but go on our final report

how much studying / effort would u be putting into them? me, not much though trying to

Are you sure? You mean they don't count towards your assessment mark at all? Because in most schools, they do count towards your school assessment mark and I would be doing a lot of study. I suppose even if they didn't count, I would still work hard at them to get some kind of indication of what I will get in the end of year exam.

Under the syllabus, trials are only suggested as counting towards internals.

They don't have to.

nope not at all they only go on our final reports. and because of assessments being due right up until the week prior to them, we havent really had much study time.

so the fact they dont count + no time to study = no motivation :S

still feel i should be doing more, but with some days having 2 three hour exams and one week to prepare, i havent done as much as i could/should/wanted to
